Statistically, that's noise: p = 0.43, relative risk 1.20 (95% CI 0.87–1.62). The authors concluded there is no relationship between placental location and fetal gender.

Read those percentages again, because they're the whole story. A 51/49 split on the right and 57/43 on the left is precisely what you'd expect from random assignment in a sample this size — the confidence interval crosses 1.0, meaning "no effect" is entirely consistent with the data.
